Ronja Kortelainen (b. 1997) is a Helsinki-based artist working in the expanded field of painting. Her practice is rooted in material exploration, often using self-made pigments and materials derived from plants and earth. Through shifting scales and close observation of natural forms, she aims to transform the smallest details into immersive, dreamlike compositions.
At the core of her practice is a sensitivity to processes of change, where materials, images, and meanings emerge through cycles, symbiosis, and continuous transformation. Her artistic work stems from a desire to dissolve boundaries between self and environment, allowing the work to unfold intuitively through making.
She just graduated as Master of Arts from Aalto University and continues her studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki.
